Walker & Royce – Fetish (AMBR022)

Following on from big releases for Moda Black, Pets Recordings, W&O Street Tracks, Dirtybird and most recently Relief, Brooklyn based duo Walker & Royce debut on Amber Muse.

“Fetish” is a peak-time groover driven by a filtered wobble bass line, and features signature pitched up/down vocals as well as surprising organ chords making it even more playful. Amber Muse’s own Taran & Lomov slowed and stripped the original down also building their remix up around a bass line. Estonian Friejosé and UK’s Josh Brown both used classic jungle loops and patterns in their versions: if Firejosé gave the original a very melodic and broken atmospheric twist, then Josh Brown made it harder and closer to a renowned 90’s garage bassy vibe.
